Valid RN License from any of the 50 US states (required).
3 years of full time ICU RN experience (required).
BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (required) Duties :
Shall be able to read, write, speak and understand English in order to effectively communicate with all patients and other health care providers.
Shall be knowledgeable of equipment and supply terminology and skill sufficient to identify and use necessary equipment and supplies properly and to communicate proper use with nurses, medical staff, patients, and family members.
12 Possess knowledge of computer operations and proficiency in the use of basic word processing, data entry and automated medical records to include but not limited to CLINICOMP, CHCS, and ALTHA.
Be a US citizen.
Provide highly specialized nursing care to critically ill patients while consistently utilizing advanced assessment skills to identify difficult patient care problems.
Formulate complex plans to meet patient care needs and continually revise goals and objectives, according to changes in patient status.
Provides highly specialized nursing care to widely varied patient populations.
Respond decisively to life-threatening changes in patient condition, providing immediate and appropriate emergency measures, according to established clinical practice guidelines (CPG), dependent upon age group and critical care area assigned.
Administers a wide variety of rapid-acting, highly potent, and potentially lethal medications (direct intravenous and other routes), according to CPGs.
Administer and monitor advance oxygen delivery equipment; interpret and respond to data.
Utilize intensive pulmonary care techniques, as needed.
Apply scientific observation skills to monitor and document patient response to therapy, remain aware of need to adjust dosage and/or rates, and collaborate with physicians/provider in charge.
Operate and monitor the performance of sophisticated equipment, used in the care of critically ill patients; which may include, but not limited to mechanical ventilators, hemodynamic monitoring equipment, intracranial pressure monitoring, intra-aortic balloon pump, etc.
Interpret and respond appropriately to complex technological data generated by such equipment.
Respond to all emergencies during the shift.
Responsible for advanced cardiac life support code team (ACLS/PALS) management until arrival of physician.
Perform as a rapid response nurse (RRN) and/or member of the Rapid Response Team (RRT) where he/she is responsible for assessing a patient's condition and planning and implementing patient care plans IAW policies, protocols and CPGs.
Demonstrate a clear understanding of adhering to hospital policies and procedures, particularly those dealing with patient health information (PHI) and patient confidentiality.
